Morning coffee.... standing up at the bar like a local. Here's something we learned: if you drink your coffee standing at the counter like an animal, you are charged less than if you sit at the table and drink your coffee. "Banco" prices are much lower than "Tavolo" prices. Which is why everyone is jammed around the bar in the morning while there are a million empty tables everywhere. Somehow it seems totally inefficient. Especially in the morning when people aren't going to linger that long over breakfast. Or do they?
The price of Museo de Correr was included in the Doge's Palace ticket, so we went. It was ok but I think we were a little museumed-out.
Lunch at Hotel Danieli. It was lovely, the service was very good. And we got 50 percent off because Rahul had employee privileges!
Octopus!
Tani's new purse, just bought the day before.
Our first night, there was a drunk guy outside this restaurant shouting how this was the best fish he's ever eaten at this restaurant. I think we verified that somewhere else (like yelp), but basically the reason we came here is because of a drunk shouting guy. Anyway it was very good. Tani had a soup - the two soups she had in Italy were among the best soups she's ever eaten. Even the pasta fagioli - which is normally pretty yucky in the U.S. - was amazing.
This was panna cotta. Although the description makes it sound heavy and unfun, it was really really yummy.
Rooftop of the Hotel Danieli at night.
