Arrived in Venice, where everything runs on & through water - Vaporetto trip

Arrival in Venice.  Tani had never been to Venice, and had saved it for her honeymoon (although she forgot about this when considering places for the honeymoon!). Anyway, we are here now.

Venice is so different from all other places on earth.  As Rahul said, Rome may be famous and ancient, but it is still a big metropolis like any other - Delhi, New York. Washington all fundamentally  work the same way, with subway systems, lots of food and shopping options, lots of hotels and people of all types running around together. But Venice is just a totally different and strange place. Yes lots of tourists, but with everything on water, and no cars anywhere, it feels like a completely different place.

We take the vaporetto, their equivalent of a bus, to our hotel. Even though people call it a bus, it was obviously so much nicer than a bus.  The awesome weather didn't hurt either.  It was cool but sunny and got us gorgeous pictures.
Everything is in boat form instead of car form - ambulance, police, postal service, construction equipment....
